Shenzhen China - Home Sweet Home
We've been out here since May 2004, overall we're doing
fine, the city is great but forget about using English to communicate and
dealing with chronic air pollution can be tiring times. All that being said,
this region is going through an absolutely incredible period of economic growth
and its very interesting to be here now.

Driving and/or getting around is a whole new ball game.
Pedestrians just blindly meander onto crowded streets and highways and car
collisions are commonplace with some that rival those of Hollywood movie pile
ups. Fasten your seatbelt, enjoy the ride. Awhile ago I put this together, it's
a little buggy but it'll definitely give you an insight into the type of driving
situation just north of Shenzhen you might have to deal with. More

When we were first considering moving
out here, I had a difficult time finding pictures to show my family what
to expect besides the few sites we found primarily focused on the
tourist destinations here. I put together 24 Hours in

About Shenzhen |

Shenzhen |
|
| Shenzhen is located in southern
China, reachable from Hong Kong by ferry or bus. We live in an area
called OCT (Overseas Chinese Town) and our apartment is about 5 minutes
drive from the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Windows of the World, Playa Maya,
Happy Valley, and Splendid China Theme Parks. There is also a new subway
in town which makes our lives much easier. Baoan airport is about 30
minutes from our home.

We live in Nanshan, just above Shekou and my office is in Chang'An

There might be not much on TV to watch but there's no problem finding
DVD's for the kiddies to watch here, about a buck each! |

I just recently stumbled across these articles from the
St. Petersburg Times, definitely one of the better pieces I've seen about the
region and specifically Shenzhen.
